Chiaroscuro is a term that describes the artistic use of light and darkness in a composition. In the composition of our lives spiritual lives, believers should give thoughtful attention to the degree to which we allow spiritual darkness to creep into our lives. Darkness is not the opposite of light, it is the absence of it. Darkness can only abound when when the light is diminished. Ensuring the spiritual light in our lives shines bright will eliminate the encroachment of spiritual darkness.
