Our History:
Waipio Grace Brethren Church is the result of a community of people, working together to see God move mightily in the Hawaiian Islands. The Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches based out of Winona Lake, Indiana, took a step of faith and planted a church on Oahu in the Waipio Valley community.
Our church was started in 1953 under Pastor Foster Tresise and his wife Peggy who were dedicated to be a church that met the spiritual needs that existed within their community. This mission was continued in 1983 with Pastor Allen David Mitchell and his wife Betty-Lou as they served this fellowship for the past 24 years. They have nurtured the congregation and kept it rooted in the Word of God. We are now welcoming in Pastor Frank L. Figueroa Jr. and his wife April. They will continue to follow the vision that was laid from the foundation . . . Equipping God’s people with His Word, so that they can serve Him and the community in which they live.
We invite you to come and join us as we study the Bible, worship the Living God, and fellowship together as a part of His family.
In The Present:
Right now we are just continuing to lay upon the foundation which was started over 50 years ago. Jesus is the foundation under everything we do. We are transitioning nicely into different areas of outreach. We currently have Awana on Friday nights for the youngsters in our neighborhood. We are sharing every third Sunday of the month at the Wahiawa Hospital for those in long term care. We go to help minister to the "houseless" every third Friday of every odd month at the River of Life Mission. We are also praying about any other ministries the Lord would have us involved in. Maybe your doing the same and the Lord can use you to help serve along side of us. In any case we are pressing ahead with the goal to reach as many people for Christ as possible.
Towards The Future:
An excitement and anticipation is stirring within us as to what God is going to do into the extended future. Will He continue to grow His church and will people continue to be saved through His work here at Waipio GBC? Will we be able to grow deeper in our relationship with Him than we ever have before thus strengthening our marriages and families? Will He return and take us home? Whatever the case, our desire is to be ready for whatever He has and prayerfully that includes you.
